Haute Trenta Style Icon: Tracee Ellis Ross

In our current celebrity obsessed culture the last thing I want to do is contribute to the bombardment of images or media coverage of these overly sensationalized people into our daily lives. However, there is something to be said for a woman who has successfully navigated the crazy Hollywood world and managed to come out with her integrity intact. Tracee is a superb choice to launch our latest Haute Trenta feature, The Haute Trenta Style Icon. Miss Ellis Ross is shamelessly 40 years young  and carving out her own way in the world. Where one may have been tempted to rest on the achievements of a super star parent Tracee has a way of making you see her sans “ Supreme”  Mom.  Why she’s haute?
Her style is fun, innovative, understatedly sexy, and approachable. I knew she was a girl after my own heart when I spotted her.
a. Wearing the same pair of shoes more than once and
b. Wearing a pair of fabulous “ it “ sandals to an industry event several season’s later!!!!!
Yes. Who does that? Tracee that’s who.
I love that she is a curator of clothing. She has a love for vintage. She like myself also believes that great quality and ingenious design transcends trends and transitions from decade to decade.

She also believes in speaking to the entire woman. Her site traceeellisross.com is a gem filled with fun and quirky YouTube videos, editorial fashion shots, runway critiques and even TV and book reviews. All of which are presented in a candid approachable manner. Tracee displays her love of empowering women in one of her latest videos where she answers a few reader questions. I LOVE HER. Check her out here.

For the Love of Design

I am passionate about teaching women to shop within her budget . I truly believe the cultivation of a fabulous wardrobe is essential to every hautetrenta. However, there are times when one has to celebrate design just for design’s sake. There are few designers whose work truly move you. I have found such a designer in Jalan Sahba. Her world travels and understanding of a wide variety of cultures is evident in her unique aesthetic . Jalan’s superior eye and use of the best materials are evident in this Ophelia bag. This bag literally took my breath away. There is something trance inducing about its Italian embossed leather, architectural details, and amethyst horn closure.

Fab Fingertips: Spring Nail Trends

There are many ways to incorporate Spring Trends into your daily look. A new fun nail color can breathe life into a lack luster image. I am a huge fan of the pinks and corals this season. I have been bombarded with the message that orange is the new neutral for Spring. However, if you are not quite moved by the idea of facing the world in head to toe tangerine try some citrus fun on your finger tips. I am a life long lover of pink. I will proudly admit it  has been my favorite color since the age of five. Say goodbye to the bubble gum/barbie pink of yesteryear and test one of these more modern sophisticated pinks available this spring.

I love the cool blues and oceanic shades that are plentiful this time of year. These shades remind me of the relaxing St. Lucia holiday I have been planning ( A girl can dream can't she) Let these cool tones set a relaxed mood while you go about your weekly routine. If you work in a more conservative environment you can always opt for one of these colors for your pedicure and show your fun side on the weekend or after work hours.
